We start early preparing scholars for college academically, socially, and emotionally. But just as important, we help our scholars picture their futures, whether that is in a college that fits their personality, passions, and budget, or in a career that is fulfilling and sustainable. We want to maximize their long-term well-being.
CAREER EXPOSURE & EXPERIENCE
We create meaningful opportunities to explore and experience careers that are relevant and connected to longer-term personal goals. We do not try to lock scholars into a career choice, but rather help them discover their strengths and passions and how those might translate into a college major and future career.
FAMILY
INVOLVEMENT
One key to college success is family support. Since many of our scholars are first generation college attendees, there are often roadblocks when realizing the benefits of a college degree. By working with families and helping parents be part of the decision-making and goal-setting process, we hope to break down those barriers.
PERSISTENCE SUPPORT
Our support for our scholars does not stop upon graduation. 100% of our graduates are accepted to college, but for us, that is just the first step. Specialized Alumni Success Counselors stay connected to every alum and are equipped to handle all types of academic, social, and emotional issues that our alumni might encounter at college.
ALUMNI CAREER OFFICE
As Uplift alumni move into their junior and senior years of college, we will connect them with our Career Office Advisors who provide targeted career search, preparation and coaching to improve their career outcomes. This might include paid internships, resume and interview assistance, as well as network connections and alumni events.
STOP OUT
SUPPORT
When traditional college is not a fit, we help our alumni secure a future that will be exciting and fulfilling. This support comes through a variety of options, including alternative pathways for college credit, best-fit options and guidance for obtaining skills and training for in-demand jobs, apprenticeships, and career networking.
