VOMO is Uplift's system for volunteer management, tracking, and opportunities. This resource will make volunteering with our campuses easier and more accessible to our Uplift community.

VOMO is the go-to platform for managing all volunteer activities within the Uplift Network. It allows us to efficiently recruit, register, and track volunteer participation and hours. Utilizing VOMO consistently across our campuses is essential for maintaining safe and organized volunteer opportunities for parents and community members during school hours. It also helps us accurately track contributions made by Uplift staff and scholars, which is important for various incentives and CAS hour fulfillment.
For any questions or support related to volunteer opportunities at your school, your primary contacts are the campus Family Engagement Coordinator and Operations Director. They can assist you in submitting volunteer requests and provide guidance on effectively managing volunteers for your specific initiatives.
For network-level volunteer initiatives, Kathy Figueroa, our Volunteer Coordinator at the Central Management Office, is here to help. You can reach out to her for assistance with volunteer recruitment and coordination for broader events.
Background Checks
In order to maintain the safety of our scholars, all Uplift volunteers will be subject to background checks before approval. Upon registration for VOMO, volunteers will answer questions and give consent for Uplift to run a background check through JDP.
Background Check Timeline: Background checks may take up to 10 days to process. This means that if your field trip, event, or other volunteer engagement opportunity is less than 10 days away, your background checks may not be processed in time.
Background Check Frequency: Background checks are only run once every academic year, and all clearance expires on June 30. On July 1, all volunteers will be prompted to give authorization for a new background check.
Uplift Employee Background Checks: Uplift employees are background checked through JDP as a condition of employment, and a background check through VOMO will not be prompted as long as the employee registers with their Uplift email address.
Uplift Scholar Background Checks: Uplift scholars below the age of 18 will not be subject to background checks. This also applies to minors not attending Uplift who register as a volunteer on VOMO.

Communicate with volunteers- Ensure your volunteers are receiving regular updates before their service opportunity. You can message volunteers through VOMO or privately with your Uplift email address.

VOMO FAQ's
If I already signed up in VOLY for this school year, will I need to do a background check in VOMO?
If you have signed up in VOLY and have a cleared background check since July 1, 2024, you will not need to undergo a new background check in VOMO. Our team will manually transfer your profile over, you will only need to accept the invitation to VOMO that will arrive to your email address on record.
If I'm signing up to volunteer for the first time, how long until my volunteer application is approved?
VOMO approvals can take up to 10 days for background check processing and approval. If you have an upcoming event, please ensure you sign up at least 10 days in advance to be able to sign up and contribute. After your first opportunity is completed, no further background checking will be required until June 30, 2025.
How do I access opportunities for my Uplift campus?
You should navigate to Uplift's VOMO hub at Uplift-Education.VOMO.org to find Uplift's VOMO hub. There, you will find each Uplift campus, including the CMO, under their own initiative. You can select the initiative to see the opportunities available for your specific location.
Who can I contact for help with VOMO?
If you are an Uplift parent or campus staff, please contact your campus Family Engagement Coordinator for support. If you are a CMO staff member, a community volunteer, or a corporate volunteer, please contact Katherine Figueroa Leon at volunteer@uplifteducation.org for support.
I need to request volunteers, how can I do so?
If you are a staff member at an Uplift campus, please contact your Family Engagement Coordinator or Operations Director. If you are at the CMO, please contact Katherine Figueroa Leon.
How can I see the volunteer hours I've contributed on VOMO?
Once your profile is created on VOMO, you will have access to your Volunteer Resume. This awesome tool allows you to see not only the amount of hours you've contributed, but also the economic impact of your service. As you achieve volunteerism milestones, you will also be awarded certificates and badges on your VOMO volunteer profile.
Do I need to attend training to use VOMO?
If you are accessing VOMO as a volunteer, no training is necessary! This tool is very user-friendly, and we have support from staff and parent volunteers to assist you in accessing the platform for the first time. If you are a staff member looking to engage with the organization of volunteer initiatives, you will need training. You are invited to attend our open training sessions/office hours on October 23 or 24. If you are interested, please contact us at volunteer@uplifteducation.org.
Will my past hours in VOLY transition to VOMO?
With our Network's switch to VOMO, we are all starting at square one. No volunteer hours logged for the 2024-2025 school year will carry over to our new platform; however, stay tuned to hear more about the amazing incentives and awards you may earn by accumulating more in VOMO!
