COVID PROTOCOLS FOR STAFF/SCHOLARS

  • Management of Staff/Scholar Illness

    • Staff/Scholars who are sick should be managed per pre-Covid-19 illness protocols and may return to school when they are well.
    • Staff/Scholars must be fever free for at least 24 hours (without fever-reducing medication).
    • The staff/scholar should have no vomiting or diarrhea for at least 12 hours from the last episode without the use of medications.
    • Staff/scholars should feel well enough to fully participate in school activities.
    • Staff/ scholars are no longer required to be "cleared" to return to school ~ no Covid test or MD clearance is required to return following COVID like illness.
    • Staff who become sick while at school should be directed home by their supervisor.
    • Scholars who become sick while at school should be directed to the school clinic for evaluation.

    Staff and/or Scholars who test Covid Positive

    • Staff/Scholars who have a positive Covid test result should isolate from others for 5 days following the start of symptoms.  If no symptoms, then isolate 5 days from the day the COVID-19 test was taken.
    • Staff/scholars should continue to isolate themselves from others until fever-free for 24-hours without the use of fever-reducing medications, and symptoms have significantly improved.
    • No Covid re-testing is required for return to school/work for positive for staff or scholars.

    ****Uplift Education no longer offers paid COVID days when a staff test positive.  Like all illnesses, staff must use their personal accrued leave****                            

    Staff and/or Scholars who are exposed to someone with Covid

    • Staff/Scholars identified as exposed to a Covid positive individual (regardless of where exposure occurs - home, school, community, etc.) may continue to attend school/work.
    • It is recommended that students/staff who have direct exposure and develop symptoms of Covid be tested (Uplift Education only offers PCR testing, please contact your Health Service staff for cost).
